Your Business. Vermont’s Future. Join the Conversation.

Running a business in the Mad River Valley means wearing a lot of hats. Keeping up with everything happening in Montpelier isn’t always easy, even when those decisions can have a real impact on your employees, your costs and your future.

With the election behind us and the 2027 legislative session approaching, the MRV Chamber is bringing the Vermont Chamber of Commerce and Vermont Futures Project together with our local business community for a timely conversation about Vermont’s economy and the opportunities and challenges ahead.

It’s a chance to connect what the statewide data tells us with what you’re experiencing right here in the Valley—and to make sure local perspectives are part of the discussion.

What’s on the Agenda?

We’ll explore:

  • The election results: What the incoming Legislature could mean for Vermont businesses.
  • Vermont Business Climate Survey findings: What employers across the state are reporting and how those experiences compare with yours.
  • The 2027 legislative session: Key policy opportunities and challenges on the horizon.
  • Getting involved: Practical ways to share your perspective and participate in the policymaking process.

There will be plenty of time for questions, candid discussion and a little mingling, too.

Why This Matters in the Mad River Valley

Whether you operate a lodge, restaurant, retail shop, construction company, professional practice or nonprofit, many of the underlying challenges are connected.

Housing affects whether employees can live close to work. Transportation affects whether they can get there. Health care and other rising costs put pressure on employers and households alike. Educational and career opportunities influence whether our young people can build a future here.

These are issues we hear about through our Lodging and Retail Councils, our STR Collaborative, member conversations and work with community partners. They reach across business sectors and town lines, and addressing them takes collaboration at both the local and state levels.

This gathering is an opportunity to bring those everyday realities into a broader conversation about Vermont’s future.
