Stark Mountain Foundation is thrilled to welcome back Vermont Master Naturalist Gene O. Desideraggio for our seasonal series of free, family-friendly guided hikes. More than just a walk in the woods—it’s an invitation to step into the hidden world of the Green Mountains. This season’s hikes will take place: 

May 16th: 2pm-4pm – Snowshoe Trail (~2 hours)

June 20th: 5-7:30pm – Solstice Hike to the Kent Thomas Nature Center. Join us as we explore the flora and fauna that thrives in the diverse landscape of Mad River Glen, ranging from the pollinators of common flowers along the ski trails to ephemeral plants of the moist forest. Expect to learn about wildlife and how you can contribute your day-to-day natural observations to benefit conservation. Medium/ High intensity (>800ft elevation gain) 

July 18th: 2pm-3:30pm – Waterfall Hike (~1.5 hours)

August 15th: 2pm-4pm – up the Snowshoe Trail & down the 19th hole (~2 hours)

September 19th: 2pm-4pm – Snowshoe Trail (~2 hours)

October 3rd (Green and Gold Weekend): 1p-4pm (~3hrs) High Intensity (take lift up and hike down the mountain)

October 17th: Kent Thomas Nature Center – 2pm-5pm  (~2.5-3hrs)

Hikes are open to ages 5+ (a supervising adult must accompany children), pre-registration is required to attend, and registration is limited. Hikes will meet at the flagpole in front of the Mad River Glen Basebox.

Roundup Revival is a free summer concert series bringing live music, community, and celebration back to the Mad River Green in Waitsfield. Inspired by the spirit of the beloved Roundup on the River, this revived tradition features a diverse lineup of regional and touring musicians performing in one of Vermont's most scenic outdoor venues.

Gather with friends and neighbors, enjoy great music, and experience the energy of summer in the Mad River Valley. There will be a changing line-up of tasty food trucks, pop-up artists and crafters, kids activities and a heaping helping of community! These bi-monthly workshops are a place to have an open conversation about social media, what is working for everyone, what isn't, what do you need help with? The MRV Chamber's MRV Women in Business group decided to host these bi-monthly Social Media Workshops in the months in between the more structured MRV Women in Business Meetings. It is meant to be an open, collaborative brainstorming session designed to help you feel a little more prepared the next time you create a post or reel.

Let’s be honest, social media can feel overwhelming. What do you post? Should you use trending sounds? Do captions really matter? What makes a strong hook? Why should people follow your page? Is your SEO set up?

This workshop is a space to come together and talk all things social. We’ll brainstorm content ideas, discuss what’s actually working right now, explore collaborations, and share experiences. The goal? You leave feeling inspired and ready to create a few new posts for your page.  We will  share hook ideas, trending sound ideas, adding words to the screen, adding captions, and anything else you would like to cover. The event is hosted by Samantha Ciccone, the coordinator of the MRV Women in Business Group.

Please feel free to BYOB if you’d like to sip while we brainstorm, and you’re welcome to grab snacks from Peace Burger across the street or from your favorite local spot.

Mow some grass, earn your pass! Mow crew is the best way to get an intimate look at all of the nooks and crannies of Stark Mountain, burn some calories and make new ski buddies. At the end of the 10 days of work you’ll have earned some cash for your pocket and a full season’s pass for the upcoming winter.

A little run down on how we mow our trails… We use hand scythes to cut the grass, ferns and shrubs on the steepest slopes here at Mad River Glen. Most of the beginner and intermediate terrain is mowed with a tractor, mow crew steps in to finish off the areas the tractor can’t go. We mow and move in a line shoulder-to-shoulder hiking up the trails as we go. It can be tough work but the camaraderie makes it so much fun! Truly, it is rewarding and at the end of the 10 days, you’ll have a full season ski pass and some cash in your pocket. Not only that but you will likely have learned something about the terrain you didn’t already know and you’ll have gained a couple of new ski buddies.

The day begins at 7:00 am and we mow until about 3:00 pm with many short breaks in between. A backpack with a hydration pack is highly recommended and you should also pack yourself enough food to get you through the day. There will be water stations along the route to refill your containers and likely a ride down on the chairlift at the end of the day to ease the knees. Most people wear pants and long sleeves to fend off bugs and protect them from the sun but a few hardy folks go shorts and tees, everyone wears hiking boots – no exceptions. We will provide the scythe, a pair of work gloves, a sharpening stone/tools and water.

STARK’S PUB WILL BE CLOSED ON SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 19TH FOR SIPTEMBERFEST. 

Back in 2008, three folks who really like beer, really like festivals and really like Mad River Glen, decided we wanted to bring the fun of a beer fest back to the Valley and that the only way it was going to happen was if we pulled up our bootstraps and did it ourselves!

Although Siptemberfest has grown over the years it is still the greatest little beer festival in the state of Vermont. There are still only around 24 brewers and roughly 800 tickets for sale, making it the Best Little Beer Fest in Vermont. For more information check out the official SIPtemberfest website.

Stark Mountain Foundation is thrilled to welcome back Vermont Master Naturalist Gene O. Desideraggio for our seasonal series of free, family-friendly guided hikes. More than just a walk in the woods—it’s an invitation to step into the hidden world of the Green Mountains. This season’s hikes will take place: 

May 16th: 2pm-4pm – Snowshoe Trail (~2 hours)

June 20th: 5-7:30pm – Solstice Hike to the Kent Thomas Nature Center. Join us as we explore the flora and fauna that thrives in the diverse landscape of Mad River Glen, ranging from the pollinators of common flowers along the ski trails to ephemeral plants of the moist forest. Expect to learn about wildlife and how you can contribute your day-to-day natural observations to benefit conservation. Medium/ High intensity (>800ft elevation gain) 

July 18th: 2pm-3:30pm – Waterfall Hike (~1.5 hours)

August 15th: 2pm-4pm – up the Snowshoe Trail & down the 19th hole (~2 hours)

September 19th: 2pm-4pm – Snowshoe Trail (~2 hours)

October 3rd (Green and Gold Weekend): 1p-4pm (~3hrs) High Intensity (take lift up and hike down the mountain)

October 17th: Kent Thomas Nature Center – 2pm-5pm  (~2.5-3hrs)

Hikes are open to ages 5+ (a supervising adult must accompany children), pre-registration is required to attend, and registration is limited. Hikes will meet at the flagpole in front of the Mad River Glen Basebox.

Foliage lift rides are available on America’s favorite Single Chair both Saturday and Sunday, first chair up is at 10 AM and the last chair is loaded at 2:30 PM. Foliage lift ride tickets are good for a round trip from base to summit and back down again, the cost is $20 for adults and $15 for juniors and seniors (free for season pass holders). Foliage lift ride tickets can be purchased in person at the ticket window. Stark’s Pub, the General Store and Ticket Booth will all be open, please see our operational hours listed below.

Hikes are open to ages 5+ (a supervising adult must accompany children), pre-registration is required to attend, and registration is limited. Hikes will meet at the flagpole in front of the Mad River Glen Basebox.

Foliage lift rides are available on America’s favorite Single Chair both Saturday and Sunday, first chair up is at 10 AM and the last chair is loaded at 2:30 PM. Foliage lift ride tickets are good for a round trip from base to summit and back down again, the cost is $20 for adults and $15 for juniors and seniors (free for season pass holders). Foliage lift ride tickets can be purchased in person at the ticket window. Stark’s Pub, the General Store and Ticket Booth will all be open, please see our operational hours listed below.

Stark Mountain Foundation is thrilled to welcome back Vermont Master Naturalist Gene O. Desideraggio for our seasonal series of free, family-friendly guided hikes. More than just a walk in the woods—it’s an invitation to step into the hidden world of the Green Mountains. This season’s hikes will take place: 

May 16th: 2pm-4pm – Snowshoe Trail (~2 hours)

June 20th: 5-7:30pm – Solstice Hike to the Kent Thomas Nature Center. Join us as we explore the flora and fauna that thrives in the diverse landscape of Mad River Glen, ranging from the pollinators of common flowers along the ski trails to ephemeral plants of the moist forest. Expect to learn about wildlife and how you can contribute your day-to-day natural observations to benefit conservation. Medium/ High intensity (>800ft elevation gain)

• May: Summer Pause
  Longer days and shifting routines can make this time of year feel both energizing and full, so before summer sweeps you away, take a moment to pause. Bring whatever’s on your mind—upcoming plans, changing expenses, or simply a question you’ve been meaning to ask. This is a relaxed, welcoming space to reflect, recalibrate, and talk through money decisions in a way that feels grounded and practical. Come as you are and join the conversation.

• August: Fall Transitions
  As the seasons shift, so do routines and priorities. Settle in with something warm and join an open conversation about what this transition might bring—new schedules, business cycles, evolving goals, or unexpected change. We could explore how these shifts connect to your financial life, from cash flow to longer-term direction, or wherever the discussion naturally leads. Bring your questions and curiosity.

• November: Year’s End
  As the year winds down, it’s a natural time to reflect on what’s unfolded and consider what comes next. Gather your thoughts and join the conversation around year-end considerations—from giving and tax planning to tying up loose ends or preparing for January. This is a supportive place to organize your reflections, acknowledge progress, and make intentional decisions before the calendar turns. Wherever you’re at, you’re welcome at the table.

These bi-monthly workshops are a place to have an open conversation about social media, what is working for everyone, what isn't, what do you need help with? The MRV Chamber's MRV Women in Business group decided to host these bi-monthly Social Media Workshops in the months in between the more structured MRV Women in Business Meetings. It is meant to be an open, collaborative brainstorming session designed to help you feel a little more prepared the next time you create a post or reel.

Let’s be honest, social media can feel overwhelming. What do you post? Should you use trending sounds? Do captions really matter? What makes a strong hook? Why should people follow your page? Is your SEO set up?

This workshop is a space to come together and talk all things social. We’ll brainstorm content ideas, discuss what’s actually working right now, explore collaborations, and share experiences. The goal? You leave feeling inspired and ready to create a few new posts for your page.  We will  share hook ideas, trending sound ideas, adding words to the screen, adding captions, and anything else you would like to cover. The event is hosted by Samantha Ciccone, the coordinator of the MRV Women in Business Group.
