Nosferatu – A Halloween Benefit

October 28 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Just in time for Halloween, The Duxbury Historical Society is presenting the Classic Silent Film “NOSFERATU (1922)” directed by FW. Murneau and written by Henrik Galeen, an early pioneer of the monster movie genre who spent his final years in Randolph, Vermont. The film, based on Bram Stoker’s “Dracula” will be shown on Wednesday, October 28, 2026 at 6:00 PM at the Duxbury Historical Society’s Meeting House (459 VT-100, South Duxbury, Vermont – directly across from the Harwood Union Middle & High School). Admission is by donation and benefits the Duxbury Historical Society. The event will be hosted by filmmaker and Duxbury resident Scott Tuft who will share Galeen’s influence on German Expressionist cinema during the silent era.

The Duxbury Historical Society is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization whose mission is to preserve the history of the town through stewardship, education, and community engagement. The Meeting House was originally built in 1854 as the South Duxbury Church. The Duxbury Historical Society acquired the property in 2023 and is undertaking extensive renovation and restoration efforts for the Meeting House and the smaller Sunshine Hall. All proceeds from the event will benefit these efforts.

Reserve your space at [email protected]. You may donate with a credit card in advance at https://duxburyvt.com/page-3.html (write a note “Nosferatu Movie”), or bring cash to the event. Suggested donation $20 per person, but any amount will be appreciated.
Free refreshments will be served. General seating will be on historic wooden church pews. Bringing a seat cushion is highly recommended.

The event is sponsored by the Moose Meadow Lodge.
