Living with Grief

Local author, Steve Rand, will read excerpts from his memoir, entitled “A Mother’s Prayer.” that
is focused on how his mother raised Rand and her other two children while confronting a deadly
disease and becoming a single parent. Though her family of origin begged her to return to
Vermont, she refused, believing a return home represented failure.
Following his conversation, Rachel Wylie Fenton, of Where The Love Lies, will talk about grief,
and how it stays with us throughout our lives, changing shape as time passes. As Wylie-Fenton
says “sometimes our grief is close to the surface, and sometimes it quietly surprises us. There
is room for all of it.”
