Mad River Valley Planning District
The Chamber’s Role in
the Mad River Valley Planning District
Most people know the Mad River Valley Chamber of Commerce for its work promoting our community, supporting local businesses, and welcoming visitors. But one of the Chamber’s most important—and often overlooked—roles is making sure the voice of the business community is heard when long-term planning decisions are made for the Valley.
A Seat at the Table
The Chamber holds a permanent seat on the Steering Committee of the Mad River Valley Planning District (MRVPD). This means that whenever decisions are made about land use, infrastructure, housing, transportation, recreation, and the overall future of the Valley, the business perspective is always represented.
The Steering Committee itself includes:
- A representative from the Select-board of each of the three Valley towns (Waitsfield, Warren, Fayston)
- A representative from the Planning Commission** of each town
- A representative from the Chamber of Commerce
With this structure, the MRVPD brings together town leadership, planners, and the business community to work collaboratively on issues that affect us all.
Why This Matters for Business
The decisions made by the MRVPD shape the long-term health and vitality of the Valley. From transportation improvements to housing initiatives to land use planning, these choices directly impact the ability of our businesses to thrive. By having a permanent seat, the Chamber ensures that your concerns, needs, and perspectives are part of every major discussion.
