Historic Valley View
Historic Valley View offers guests a warm and memorable stay in the heart of Waitsfield. Built in 1801 for the town’s first Minister, this lovingly restored farmhouse blends authentic Vermont history with modern comfort — creating a four-season retreat that is both timeless and welcoming.
Set on two scenic acres overlooking conserved farmland, the property is home to the historic Pine Brook Covered Bridge, which sits right on the land, and Pine Brook, which gently runs through the property, adding the soothing sounds of moving water to the peaceful setting. Guests enjoy sweeping 180-degree sunset views of Camel’s Hump, Mount Ellen, and Mount Mansfield, with easy access to Mad River swimming holes, nearby farm stands, scenic country roads, and Waitsfield’s shops and restaurants just two miles away.
Inside the 1,100-square-foot home, original hand-hewn beams and wide-plank floorboards showcase the property’s 200-year history. The sunny dining room seats eight and frames stunning valley views. Three private bedrooms, a cozy living room with a gas stove, a fully equipped kitchen with a dedicated coffee and tea station, and a thoughtfully renovated bathroom provide comfort for families, couples, or small groups.
Modern amenities include whole-home fiber internet with boosters, a remote workspace with a sit-stand desk and ultrawide monitor, a 50-amp EV charger, air conditioning, and luxurious linens and towels. After winter adventures at Sugarbush Resort, or riding directly onto the VAST snowmobile trail system behind the house, guests can warm up by the fire and use the boot and glove warmers inside.
The modern barn, situated where the original barn once hosted horses, carriages, and church services, has been transformed into a fun game room with ping-pong, foosball, yard games, and gathering space for all ages. Outdoors, guests can enjoy the seasonal shower, fire pit, and mountain-view sunsets, as well as seasonal picking from blueberries, currants, apples, and the vegetable garden. Check out a 3D Tour of the property.
