SUMMARY:Naturalist Guided Snowshoe Tours
DESCRIPTION:Each and every Saturday and Sunday at 10:30 AM you can join one of our Naturalists for a guided snowshoe trek tailored to your interests in the ecology and wildlife of Stark Mountain! Our outings and content vary each week\, depending on snow conditions and participants. Learn about the hardwood forests of the Green Mountains\, as well as our resident moose\, bear\, deer\, fisher\, coyote\, red fox and more! Snowshoe rentals are available for only $15 with the program! \nPlease note: Advanced registration is required. To request a reservation please fill out the Reservation Request Form prior to your visit. Naturalist Programs start at 10:30 AM. SUMMARY:Backcountry Ski Tour: Spring Special
DESCRIPTION:Our guided instructional tour will bring you to some of Stowe’s premier backcountry on a full-day instructional ski adventure. Choose the equipment you would like to ski on during your tour\, lightweight 75mm 3-pin telemark equipment or AT equipment. Umiak’s certified backcountry guide will teach proper safety protocol and the necessary safety gear needed before heading into the backcountry. Learn valuable skills in applying\, removing\, and storing climbing skins or caring for fish scale backcountry gear and operation of the binding as well as other important BC equipment. We will work on different climbing techniques as well as an efficient skin to ski transition prior to a powder-filled downhill run. Intended for intermediate\, to advanced alpine skiers and riders that want to expand their comfort level and skills in the backcountry. \nChoose from one of our four scheduled event days or contact us to customize your own private tour. \nBeginners Day: Sunday\, Jan 25\, 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM\nPerfect for newcomers\, this day offers foundational skills and confidence-building lessons to get you started comfortably. \nTrees & Skis: Sunday\, Feb 8\, 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM\nSpend the day learning how to ski safely among the trees\, focusing on techniques to navigate wooded areas. We’ll also explore the different tree species in the Green Mountains\, discuss the impact of deforestation\, and learn about conservation efforts! \nWomen’s Only Day: Sunday\, March 1\, 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM\nA supportive environment designed to empower women through tailored instruction\, camaraderie\, and shared outdoor experiences.
