DESCRIPTION:Now in its sixth year\, “Broadway in Vermont” (Registered Trade Name) returns to Duxbury with some of Broadway’s leading stars heading to the Green Mountains for a special outdoor concert event. \nVermonter Merritt David Janes\, who most recently starred in the Original Broadway cast of “SMASH” and “Back to the Future”\, will perform with his friends on Monday\, July 20th at 6:00 PM on the grounds at Moose Meadow Lodge in Duxbury. Enjoy hits from classic and contemporary Broadway musicals\, along with some original songs. The singers\, accompanied by a live band\, will perform songs intermingled with stories about their professional journeys. \nThe event will be an intimate look at some of the most legendary musicals and life as a Broadway performer. \nGates open at 5:00 PM for picnicking. Parking is limited. Carpooling is encouraged. Food will be available for purchase from JDK BBQ and The Udder Guys ice cream. Tickets are $45 general admission\, $30 for students and children\, and are available online at moosemeadowlodge.net. \nBroadway in Vermont offers a magical concert experience in the Green Mountains of Central Vermont. DESCRIPTION:Ages 6-12 July 31st – August 2nd\, 2026 Friday 4pm – 6pm Saturday & Sunday 9am – 3pm The Big Picture Theater and Cafe – 48 Carroll Rd\, Waitsfield\, VT 05673 $225 per camper \nKintz Clown Camp is partnering with The Bigger Picture Community Foundation!\nAfter 3 successful summers at the Waitsfield Village Meeting House\, Kintz Clown Camp is offering additional programming this year\, in our exciting new partnership with The Big Pic!\nLed by Kolleen & Bobby Kintz\, this weekend summer camp will explore ensemble creation and comedic performance. Some basic circus skills and partner acrobatics will also be taught! We will be discovering what it takes to be a strong performer and a good audience member. Games and laughs abound! There will also be outdoor components of this camp: popsicles\, playground\, and giant bubbles!\nStudents will share some of what they’ve learned at a short performance for parents/siblings/grandparents during the final afternoon. \nThis is a drop-off camp: we will help create a comfortable transition for your child when they arrive each day. Campers will bring a lunch to eat together\, during which we will watch age appropriate clown material from some of the greats like: Charlie Chaplin\, Lucille Ball\, Laurel & Hardy\, Mr. Bean\, and Monty Python. \nPlease complete one form for each child who will be attending camp. We will send additional information about what to expect and camp procedures as we get closer to summer. In 2014\, the duo traveled to Haiti to volunteer with Clowns Without Borders and performed for over 5000 children. Kolleen later became a hospital clown for Healthy Humor and made rounds as Dr. Pickle at Johns Hopkins for 6 years.\nKolleen & Bobby Kintz have been teaching artists since 2013. Beginning their journey with the instruction of 3 & 4 year olds\, in Del Ray\, VA. Later developing their own circus camp for ages 5-13\, which ran in Baltimore at Morgan State University for 5 years. In the summer of 2023\, Kolleen & Bobby premiered their Mad River Valley based programming\, with a 6 week summer session for preschoolers and have had ongoing programming ever since. DESCRIPTION:In the Mad River Valley\, we believe that everyone — whether they live here\, work here\, or visit — deserves to feel safe. To support that vision the chamber’s is launching a new series of Stand Up for Safety workshops designed to help hospitality workers recognize and respond to situations that may threaten the safety or well-being of themselves\, their co-workers\, or their guests. \nThese interactive sessions will equip front-line staff with practical tools to: \n\nRecognize signs of harm\, harassment\, or exploitation\nRespond appropriately and safely when concerns arise\nConnect individuals in need with the right support services\n\nThe workshops are approachable\, hands-on\, and rooted in real-world hospitality settings — from restaurants and inns to shops and recreation businesses. While the curriculum is still being finalized\, the goal is clear: to ensure the Mad River Valley remains a safe and welcoming place for all. The workshops are organized and facilitated by Anna Nassset Consulting. \nUpcoming Workshops will all take place at the MRV Chamber Welcome Center \n\nJanuary 22 – 10-11 am: Understanding DV\, HT\, and Stalking\nExplore how to identify and respond to domestic violence\, human trafficking\, and stalking in both customers and co-workers\, and learn about available local and national resources.\nApril 7- 10-11 am: Sexual Assault Awareness Month\nLearn to recognize early warning signs of sexual assault\, how to respond to disclosures\, and how to connect survivors with resources and support.\nAugust 5 – 10-11 am: Workplace Culture\nDiscover how to build a supportive workplace culture where all employees feel safe and valued\, through stories\, exercises\, and practical leadership strategies.\nBack in October 22  GBV Bystander Training was offered\nWe learned the basics of gender-based violence prevention\, including the 4D’s of bystander intervention\, and how to empower yourself and others to make a difference.\n\nA Community Commitment\n“Hospitality is the backbone of the Mad River Valley’s economy and culture\,” said Eric Friedman\, Executive Director of the Mad River Valley Chamber of Commerce. “By giving our front-line staff the tools and confidence to recognize and respond to difficult situations\, we’re not just protecting individuals — we’re strengthening the fabric of our community and ensuring the Valley remains a safe\, welcoming place for everyone.” \nAbout Stand Up for Safety\nA collaboration between local businesses\, resorts\, and organizations committed to standing up to gender-based violence and fostering a culture of care in the Mad River Valley. \nFor more information about the workshops\, or to learn how your business can get involved\, please contact info@madriverrvalley.com and/or visit www.madrivervalley.com/stand-up-for-safety \n

DESCRIPTION:The Mad River Rug Hookers meet downstairs at the Warren library on the second Friday of every month. Our monthly “hook in” a chance to socialize\, solicit rug hooking advice\, admire the works of many rug hookers and meet new hookers! \nWe have many new rug hookers\, and more are welcome. We have an introductory kit for $30\, which includes wool\, a hook and a portable hoop frame. Sandra Grant is a very accomplished rug hooking instructor to teach the basics skills and application of wool and fiber for desired effects. \nIf you are interested in attending or learning to hook wool\, or have questions contact Sandy at slgrant22@hotmail.com to share your questions or to be included in her Monthly email invite and ensure enough new member kits.
