SUMMARY:The ACLU for YOUTH Summer Program
DESCRIPTION:Harwood ACLU club in collaboration with Joslin Memorial Library present a free three-day youth workshop facilitated by local high school students and teachers as well as ACLU VT staff\, lawyers\, and policy advocates. Each day will center on one of three key issues the ACLU works on: Immigrant Rights\, Trans Rights\, and Housing Rights and culminate in a mock trial based on a real ACLU case that will be held at Joslin Library and open to the wider public. Open to middle and high schoolers (rising 7th-12th graders). Free to attend! Refreshments and materials provided. \nThis program is supported in part by Vermont Humanities and the Mad River Valley Rotary Club.

Inspired by the spirit of the beloved Roundup on the River\, this revived tradition features a diverse lineup of regional and touring musicians performing in one of Vermont’s most scenic outdoor venues. \nGather with friends and neighbors\, enjoy great music\, and experience the energy of summer in the Mad River Valley. There will be a changing line-up of tasty food trucks\, pop-up artists and crafters\, kids activities and a heaping helping of community! DESCRIPTION:Schedule a Time to Give Today!\n\nIn addition to a bar of fabulous Cabot Creamery cheese the Red Cross is offering donors a $20 Amazon Gift Card by email for giving blood in August.   \nThe American Red Cross has an urgent need for donors and is counting on people to act now and book a time to give blood or platelets. Donors of all blood types and those giving platelets are needed to keep a strong supply of lifesaving blood products on hospital shelves into the summer. \nAs summer heat ramps up\, so do people’s plans\, which could lead to postponed appointments or less opportunities to give ─ an especially troubling scenario at a time where the Red Cross has experienced an alarming drop in scheduled donations in recent weeks. In addition to many end-of-school year activities\, travel and school breaks\, June 1 marked the beginning of Atlantic hurricane season ─ a reminder that severe weather can also quickly disrupt the ability to donate in affected areas and potentially delay or cancel blood drives. \nPower Red: A Power Red donation collects the red cells but returns most of the plasma and platelets to the donor. These donors must meet specific eligibility requirements and have type A Neg\, B Neg\, or O blood. \n\n\nBlood: The most common type of donation\, during which approximately a pint of ‘whole blood’ is given.
