SUMMARY:Community Grief Group - Where The Love Lies
DESCRIPTION:Join Rachel Wylie-Fenton of Where The Love Lies for our monthly Community Grief Group—a free gathering generously sponsored by Hannah’s House. \nGrief can feel isolating\, and you don’t have to navigate it alone. This group offers a gentle\, welcoming space to come as you are\, connect with others\, and spend time with whatever grief you may be carrying. \nRachel will gently facilitate the gathering\, offering a little structure and plenty of room to breathe. You’re invited to share\, listen\, reflect\, or simply be present. There is no right way to grieve\, and there is no expectation that you have to speak. \nAll kinds of grief are welcome here. This may include the loss of a loved one\, chronic or terminal illness\, the loss of a beloved pet\, changing stages of life\, environmental or global grief\, and the many other visible and invisible losses we experience throughout our lives. \nAnd your grief doesn’t have to be recent to belong here. Grief stays with us throughout our lives; it simply changes shape as time passes. Sometimes it is close to the surface\, and sometimes it quietly surprises us. There is room for all of it. \nAll grief is valid. All grief is welcome. \n📍 Location: Enter through the back door and take the stairs or elevator to the 2nd floor. We’ll gather in the conference room. \n⌚ Frequency: Every 2nd Wednesday of the month \n💛 Want monthly reminders and reflections on grief?\nEmail Rachel at rachel@wherethelovelies.com to join the email list.

SUMMARY:Unplowed Realities
DESCRIPTION:Unplowed Realities examines farms\, land\, and animals as interconnected systems of survival\, care\, and resilience at a time when small farmers face mounting economic and environmental pressures. \nThrough portraiture\, Joan O’Neal explores the animal gaze\, positioning the dairy cow as a subject rather than a resource. Her portraits invite us to consider empathy\, labor\, vulnerability\, and our relationships with other species. \nGeorge Shenk\, community activist\, experimental farmer\, writer\, and creative\, explores the human labor of sustaining small farms and the vital connections between land\, food\, animals\, and community. \nTogether\, their work asks us to reconsider how we value land\, labor\, food\, and life and reminds us that ecological health and community well-being are deeply connected.

SUMMARY:Irene at 15 - Community Gathering\, Exhibition\, and Commemoration
DESCRIPTION:Fifteen years have passed since Tropical Storm Irene rolled through the Valley. Since then\, our community has grown\, changed\, and learned important lessons about recovery and preparedness. \nJoin Friends of the Mad River\, in partnership with the Mad River Valley Planning District\, on September 10 from 3–7 PM at the Bridge Street marketplace for a community celebration honoring the strength and resilience of the Mad River Valley. \nEnjoy food\, music\, educational activities\, and art installations; connect with community members; and celebrate the efforts of neighbors\, friends\, business owners\, town officials\, and other leaders who helped us rebuild. \nLive music will include performances by the Mad Mountain Scramblers and Phineas Gage. Food and beverages will be available from a range of local favorites\, including Gracie’s Tamales\, Scrag and Roe\, the VG\, Twisted Halo\, and Dougy Fresh. A variety of opportunities have been planned for participants to learn about flood resilience and emergency preparedness. Over 20 community partners\, organizations\, and businesses are joining forces to facilitate educational activities\, community conversations\, and hands-on experiences designed to connect information with practical steps people and organizations can take. \nThe September 10 event is part of a five-event series exploring the Valley’s experience before\, during\, and after the August 2011 storm. The events will run through 2026-2027 and emphasize turning what we\, as a community\, have learned into opportunities for action and preparedness for future flooding events. We hope that you’ll join us on September 10 and for future events in the series!

SUMMARY:Warren Village Cemetery Walk

It will begin on the flat area near the town hall and traverse up the stairs (or path). Please bring good walking shoes and any assistive devices to help you navigate the grounds for one hour. SUMMARY:Warren NEW Time Capsule Burial
DESCRIPTION:The Warren Time Capsule Team is accepting items for the new community time capsule through August 29. Drop-off at the Town Clerk’s office\, Warren Municipal Building\, Monday through Friday\, 8:30 to 4:00. \nWe want as much of our community represented as possible. Your contribution could be a letter to future generations\, a photograph\, a small piece of art\, a meaningful object\, or something completely unexpected. You never know what randomness or obscurity will be the most interesting thing someone finds in 50 years. Keep it small enough to fit in a Ziploc bag and avoid food\, liquids\, batteries\, rubber\, newsprint\, wood\, tape\, leather\, and anything wet. \nPut your item in a sealed Ziploc bag with your name and contact info on the outside. \nThe capsule gets buried Saturday\, September 12 at 3:30 PM in Warren Village\, followed by a community picnic. The day also includes the Warren Village Cemetery Walk at 10 AM and the Vermont Jazz Ensemble on the pavilion at 5 PM. Come contribute\, come celebrate\, come be a part of the history.
