SUMMARY:Jest Fest 2026 - An All Ages Comedy Festival
DESCRIPTION:Jest Fest 2026\nAn All-Ages Comedy Festival! \nLaughter brings us joy. It heals – laughter is the best medicine – and it builds community – and it’s the only thing people are not afraid to catch! We need all of things more than ever now. In response\, Vermont’s Camp Meade is working in association with local comics and the non-profit Vermont Comedy All Stars to create a family friendly comedy festival\, Jest Fest 2026. \nCamp Meade has served for over a decade as a community and educational center in Central Vermont dedicated to music\, arts\, education and cultural programming. Vermont Comedy All Stars is a nonprofit\, founded in 2020\, dedicated to the promotion of the comic arts in Vermont. VCAS has produced over 120 stand up comedy shows around the state\, including multi-year runs at Next Stage Arts in Putney\, Bent Nails Roadhouse in Middlesex (formerly Bent Nails Bistro in Montpelier) and up until its closure in 2025\, the iconic Nectar’s in Burlington. (A recent profile on VCAS and its director Gordon Clark ran in Seven Days: https://www.sevendaysvt.com/arts-culture/comedy-arts-culture/standup-gordon-clark-sets-the-stage-for-younger-comics/) \nJest Fest 2026 will be broken up into different sections\, each suitable for a different age of participant.

SUMMARY:First Friday Films at the Corner School
DESCRIPTION:This family friendly monthly event features classic films and superior snacks – all for free. The beautiful interior of Granville’s historic Corner School is transformed into a screening room where the whole community is invited to watch a favorite film chosen by a member of the community. \nJuly 3rd: It’s “Independence Day\,” a rollicking 1996 sci-fi action adventure starring Will Smith\, Bill Pullman and Jeff Goldblum. It’s feel good Americana just in time for the 4th of July. Doors open half an hour before the film starts. \nAugust 7th: “The Man with a Plan”! Director John O’Brien will be at the Corner School hosting this Vermont classic on its 30th anniversary! No better time to see it again. And if you’ve never had the pleasure of watching Fred Tuttle foil a slick politician\, do not miss this opportunity. Fun Fact: the soundtrack for MWAP was recorded right here in Granville at Roger Stauss’s studio. \nCome watch a movie with your friends and neighbors as the film gods intended!
