SUMMARY:Unplowed Realities
DESCRIPTION:Unplowed Realities examines farms\, land\, and animals as interconnected systems of survival\, care\, and resilience at a time when small farmers face mounting economic and environmental pressures. \nThrough portraiture\, Joan O’Neal explores the animal gaze\, positioning the dairy cow as a subject rather than a resource. Her portraits invite us to consider empathy\, labor\, vulnerability\, and our relationships with other species. \nGeorge Shenk\, community activist\, experimental farmer\, writer\, and creative\, explores the human labor of sustaining small farms and the vital connections between land\, food\, animals\, and community. \nTogether\, their work asks us to reconsider how we value land\, labor\, food\, and life and reminds us that ecological health and community well-being are deeply connected.

SUMMARY:Gone Guys Film Screening & Discussion
DESCRIPTION:Come to the Moretown library for a screening of this 45 minute documentary with a discussion facilitated by Jeremy Silcox\, MSW\, LICSW from Hannah’s House. \nOver the past fifty years\, boys and young men have steadily disengaged from school\, work\, and broader society. They’re falling behind academically\, struggling with loneliness and isolation\, and facing rising rates of substance abuse and suicide. \nGone Guys\, a 45-minute documentary\, draws on the influential work of Richard V. Reeves’ Of Boys and Men\, illuminating these challenges through powerful data and compelling personal stories. Many have experienced these issues first-hand\, but it can be difficult to talk about them. It’s not an either-or choice: caring more about boys and men does not mean caring less about women and girls. \nSet in rural Vermont\, the film brings national data to life with engaging animation accompanying lived experience featuring young men\, educators\, mentors\, and trailblazing programs that are working to re-engage boys and young men in their communities and reshape their futures.
