SUMMARY:Unplowed Realities
DESCRIPTION:Unplowed Realities examines farms\, land\, and animals as interconnected systems of survival\, care\, and resilience at a time when small farmers face mounting economic and environmental pressures. \nThrough portraiture\, Joan O’Neal explores the animal gaze\, positioning the dairy cow as a subject rather than a resource. Her portraits invite us to consider empathy\, labor\, vulnerability\, and our relationships with other species. \nGeorge Shenk\, community activist\, experimental farmer\, writer\, and creative\, explores the human labor of sustaining small farms and the vital connections between land\, food\, animals\, and community. \nTogether\, their work asks us to reconsider how we value land\, labor\, food\, and life and reminds us that ecological health and community well-being are deeply connected.

SUMMARY:Mow Crew
DESCRIPTION:Mow some grass\, earn your pass! Mow crew is the best way to get an intimate look at all of the nooks and crannies of Stark Mountain\, burn some calories and make new ski buddies. At the end of the 10 days of work you’ll have earned some cash for your pocket and a full season’s pass for the upcoming winter. \nA little run down on how we mow our trails… We use hand scythes to cut the grass\, ferns and shrubs on the steepest slopes here at Mad River Glen. Most of the beginner and intermediate terrain is mowed with a tractor\, mow crew steps in to finish off the areas the tractor can’t go. We mow and move in a line shoulder-to-shoulder hiking up the trails as we go. It can be tough work but the camaraderie makes it so much fun! Truly\, it is rewarding and at the end of the 10 days\, you’ll have a full season ski pass and some cash in your pocket. Not only that but you will likely have learned something about the terrain you didn’t already know and you’ll have gained a couple of new ski buddies. \nThe day begins at 7:00 am and we mow until about 3:00 pm with many short breaks in between. A backpack with a hydration pack is highly recommended and you should also pack yourself enough food to get you through the day. There will be water stations along the route to refill your containers and likely a ride down on the chairlift at the end of the day to ease the knees. Most people wear pants and long sleeves to fend off bugs and protect them from the sun but a few hardy folks go shorts and tees\, everyone wears hiking boots – no exceptions. We will provide the scythe\, a pair of work gloves\, a sharpening stone/tools and water. \nIf you’re interested in joining the mow crew this fall please send an email to ski@madriverglen.com.

SUMMARY:Return to Center - A Therapeutic Yoga & Somatic Movement Practice
DESCRIPTION:Life has a way of pulling us in many directions. Return to Center is an invitation to slow down\, reconnect with yourself\, and remember the wisdom that already lives within you.\nInspired by therapeutic yoga and somatic movement\, this class is designed for anyone seeking greater balance\, resilience\, and ease—no prior experience is necessary. Through mindful movement\, breath\, and guided awareness\, you’ll build strength\, stability\, and confidence while learning to listen more deeply to your body’s signals.\nRather than striving to do the “perfect” pose\, you’ll be encouraged to explore what feels supportive and sustainable for you. Each practice offers choices and adaptations\, empowering you to trust yourself and discover the path that best meets your needs in the present moment.\nOver the course of the season\, you’ll cultivate:\nA deeper sense of self-trust and inner resilience.\nGreater balance\, strength\, and embodied confidence.\nPractical tools to regulate stress and reconnect with yourself.\nIncreased awareness of your body’s wisdom and your own inner guidance.\nA renewed sense of possibility\, agency\, and clarity as you move through life’s challenges.\nThis is more than a yoga class: it’s a space to explore what becomes possible when you reconnect with your center and recognize that you are the leader and guide of your own life.\nCome as you are. Leave feeling more grounded\, capable\, and connected to the person you are becoming.
