DESCRIPTION:The Silent Type\nJune 5 – August 27
Reception: June 5\, 5:30–7:00 PM\nThis summer\, The Silent Type brings together artists and designers whose work explores the intersection of visual design\, natural systems\, and human culture. On view from June 5 through August 27\, the exhibition examines how patterns\, structures\, and processes found in nature are translated into typography\, sculpture\, projection\, materials\, and spatial interventions.\nThrough layered forms of communication—including text\, image\, and three-dimensional design—the exhibition invites viewers to consider how visual language shapes perception\, behavior\, and collective understanding. Both playful and intentional\, the works reveal the quiet ways design mediates our relationship with the natural world and with one another.\nFeatured artists include Tina Christensen\, Leslie Fry\, Michael Jager\, Susan Smereka\, and Elise Whittemore.\nAn opening reception will be held on June 5 from 5:30 to 7:00 PM. The public is invited to attend and experience an exhibition that reflects on the subtle dialogue between nature\, design\, and contemporary life.

DESCRIPTION:Arts and Crafts Camp\nAges 8 and up Monday August 10th – Saturday August 15th 9am – 1pm The Big Picture Theater and Cafe – 48 Carroll Rd\, Waitsfield\, VT 05673 Led by artist Anna Jarecki (madboarddesign.com) $400 per camper\nJoin us for a fun\, creative\, and hands-on week of art-making! This week-long camp\, running Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM\, is designed for kids ages 8 and up who are excited to make some art\, explore their creative side\, and do it all in a supportive environment. Campers will be guided through a variety of creative experiences that encourage creativity\, experimentation\, confidence\, and self-expression. \nEach day\, campers will have the option to dive into different mediums – ranging from painting and mixed media to sculpture and design – working on unique\, engaging projects that keep the week fresh and exciting. During the week\, the group will also collaborate on a special outdoor art piece designed to live on-site as a semi-permanent installation\, giving campers a chance to contribute to something lasting and meaningful. \nAll materials\, as well as snacks and drinks\, will be provided – just bring your creativity! There will also always be another adult helping the kids on their work and keeping them safe!\nTo celebrate the week’s work\, we’ll host a Friday evening Art Showcase\, where campers can proudly display their creations for family and friends. The artwork will remain on display throughout the weekend for the community to enjoy. \nPlease complete one form for each child who will be attending camp. Anna has been immersed in art from a young age\, taking every art class available throughout high school and continuing to pursue her creative interests alongside her studies in Criminal Justice and Psychology at Northeastern University. She also attended the San Francisco Art Institute for an intensive summer program where she studied Painting and Photography. Over the past two years\, she has grown her own art business\, creating a wide range of work\, including murals\, hand-painted skateboards\, block prints\, and custom canvas commissions. Alongside her artistic practice\, Anna also has experience working with children and brings a fun\, encouraging\, and engaging approach to teaching.

DESCRIPTION:Stark Mountain Foundation is thrilled to welcome back Vermont Master Naturalist Gene O. Desideraggio for our seasonal series of free\, family-friendly guided hikes. More than just a walk in the woods—it’s an invitation to step into the hidden world of the Green Mountains. This season’s hikes will take place:  \nMay 16th: 2pm-4pm – Snowshoe Trail (~2 hours) \nJuly 18th: 2pm-3:30pm – Waterfall Hike (~1.5 hours) \nAugust 15th: 2pm-4pm – up the Snowshoe Trail & down the 19th hole (~2 hours) \nSeptember 19th: 2pm-4pm – Snowshoe Trail (~2 hours) \nOctober 3rd (Green and Gold Weekend): 1p-4pm (~3hrs) High Intensity (take lift up and hike down the mountain) \nOctober 17th: Kent Thomas Nature Center – 2pm-5pm  (~2.5-3hrs) \nHikes are open to ages 5+ (a supervising adult must accompany children)\, pre-registration is required to attend\, and registration is limited.
