Reception: June 5\, 5:30–7:00 PM\nThis summer\, The Silent Type brings together artists and designers whose work explores the intersection of visual design\, natural systems\, and human culture. On view from June 5 through August 27\, the exhibition examines how patterns\, structures\, and processes found in nature are translated into typography\, sculpture\, projection\, materials\, and spatial interventions.\nThrough layered forms of communication—including text\, image\, and three-dimensional design—the exhibition invites viewers to consider how visual language shapes perception\, behavior\, and collective understanding. Both playful and intentional\, the works reveal the quiet ways design mediates our relationship with the natural world and with one another.\nFeatured artists include Tina Christensen\, Leslie Fry\, Michael Jager\, Susan Smereka\, and Elise Whittemore.\nAn opening reception will be held on June 5 from 5:30 to 7:00 PM. The public is invited to attend and experience an exhibition that reflects on the subtle dialogue between nature\, design\, and contemporary life.

DESCRIPTION:Puppet show! Puppet show! Bread & Puppet will present an indoor performance each Friday this summer in the Paper Maché Cathedral. The show will premiere in June and continue to evolve over the course of the summer. \nAfter the show Bread & Puppet will serve its famous sourdough rye bread with aioli\, and Bread & Puppet’s “Cheap Art” – books\, posters\, postcards\, pamphlets and banners from the Bread & Puppet Press – will be for sale. \nOf the show\, director Peter Schuman tells us that\, “Puppeteers are in a state of high alert. The commanders-in-chief of reality are not only assassinating truth but have declared war on the innocent everything of the world. Morality demons claim divine origin\, govern the population with unidentified power\, and oppress shamelessly and unaccountably with history-honored illegality. Under and oversized puppets now battle the insufferable demons and the tricks of political mayhem. The world\, unaware of its upside-down situation\, must be confronted!”

We must demonstrate humanity’s upside-down situation in the face of the government’s depraved falsehoods. Luxury silence and despair must be replaced by revolt orchestras that radically oppose the radically wrong system. \nIt is time to unforget the revolution-in-progress and aim for the evermore on the universe’s shore.” \nThe one and only Bread & Puppet Circus is back to confront our upside-down situation! With stilt dancers\, paper maché beasts of all sizes\, and a riotous brass band\, The Upside Down World Circus is an urgent spectacle of protest and celebration. Following the circus\, starting around 4:30pm\, a massive pageant will commence on the field. Side shows before the circus. \nAfter each show Bread & Puppet will serve its famous sourdough rye bread with aioli\, and “Cheap Art” – books\, posters\, postcards\, pamphlets and banners from the Bread & Puppet Press – will be for sale. \nTickets to summer shows on the Bread & Puppet farm are $15\, with no one turned away for lack of funds. Admission by donation upon arrival for kids 12 and under.

This week-long camp\, running Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM\, is designed for kids ages 8 and up who are excited to make some art\, explore their creative side\, and do it all in a supportive environment. Campers will be guided through a variety of creative experiences that encourage creativity\, experimentation\, confidence\, and self-expression. \nEach day\, campers will have the option to dive into different mediums – ranging from painting and mixed media to sculpture and design – working on unique\, engaging projects that keep the week fresh and exciting. During the week\, the group will also collaborate on a special outdoor art piece designed to live on-site as a semi-permanent installation\, giving campers a chance to contribute to something lasting and meaningful. \nAll materials\, as well as snacks and drinks\, will be provided – just bring your creativity! There will also always be another adult helping the kids on their work and keeping them safe!\nTo celebrate the week’s work\, we’ll host a Friday evening Art Showcase\, where campers can proudly display their creations for family and friends. The artwork will remain on display throughout the weekend for the community to enjoy. \nPlease complete one form for each child who will be attending camp. Anna has been immersed in art from a young age\, taking every art class available throughout high school and continuing to pursue her creative interests alongside her studies in Criminal Justice and Psychology at Northeastern University. She also attended the San Francisco Art Institute for an intensive summer program where she studied Painting and Photography. Over the past two years\, she has grown her own art business\, creating a wide range of work\, including murals\, hand-painted skateboards\, block prints\, and custom canvas commissions. Alongside her artistic practice\, Anna also has experience working with children and brings a fun\, encouraging\, and engaging approach to teaching.

DESCRIPTION:The Mad River Rug Hookers meet downstairs at the Warren library on the second Friday of every month. Our monthly “hook in” a chance to socialize\, solicit rug hooking advice\, admire the works of many rug hookers and meet new hookers! \nWe have many new rug hookers\, and more are welcome. We have an introductory kit for $30\, which includes wool\, a hook and a portable hoop frame.
