Reception: June 5\, 5:30–7:00 PM\nThis summer\, The Silent Type brings together artists and designers whose work explores the intersection of visual design\, natural systems\, and human culture. On view from June 5 through August 27\, the exhibition examines how patterns\, structures\, and processes found in nature are translated into typography\, sculpture\, projection\, materials\, and spatial interventions.\nThrough layered forms of communication—including text\, image\, and three-dimensional design—the exhibition invites viewers to consider how visual language shapes perception\, behavior\, and collective understanding. Both playful and intentional\, the works reveal the quiet ways design mediates our relationship with the natural world and with one another.\nFeatured artists include Tina Christensen\, Leslie Fry\, Michael Jager\, Susan Smereka\, and Elise Whittemore.\nAn opening reception will be held on June 5 from 5:30 to 7:00 PM. The public is invited to attend and experience an exhibition that reflects on the subtle dialogue between nature\, design\, and contemporary life.

DESCRIPTION:Waitsfield’s General Wait House Commission wants to know what community members feel is the highest and best use of the General Wait carriage and dairy barn. The two outbuildings on the General Wait House property are currently underused and in need of upgrades. Commissioners are seeking practical concepts to guide next steps in preservation\, programming\, and improvements. \nJoin the commission and other community members for a lively community discussion and viewing of the Carriage Barn on June 24 at the General Wait House (4061 Main Street in Waitsfield). Refreshments and beverages will be served at 5 p.m. The discussion will begin at 5:30 p.m. \nIdeas should consider…\nCommunity benefit: Who will use the space and how often?\nHistoric preservation: How would the idea protect the buildings’ historic character?\nFeasibility: What level of renovation\, equipment\, or staffing might be needed?\nSeasonality and access: Is the use three-season or year-round?\nWhat accessibility needs should be considered?\nFinancial sustainability: Can the concept be supported through rentals\, grants\, partnerships\, or earned revenue?\nCompatibility: How will the use work with existing activity on the property? \nHave a great idea\, but can’t make the event?
