Bridge Street Beautification Day: A Community Triumph!
Well, folks, if you were anywhere near Bridge Street on Monday, July 8th, you couldn’t have missed the hustle and bustle of our community coming together for the Bridge Street Beautification Day. This event, organized by the stewardMRV Program, brought a fresh burst of energy and charm to one of our favorite spots in the Mad River Valley.
What Went Down
For an entire morning, a dedicated group of 20 volunteers rolled up their sleeves and got busy. Their mission? To put a shine on Bridge Street, the iconic covered bridge, the Pocket Park, and the surrounding area. And boy, did they deliver!

Special thanks go out to Tal and his team at the Village Grocery, who treated all the hardworking volunteers to a mouthwatering smoked chicken barbecue and delicious creemees. It was the perfect way to wrap up a morning of hard work and community spirit. Another big shoutout to Russell and Sons for hauling away all the debris.
Missions Accomplished
Here’s a rundown of what our amazing volunteers achieved:
- Cleaned out the silt from around the covered bridge, giving it a fresh, welcoming look.
- Extensive weeding in between all the bricks, ensuring our streets looked neat and tidy.
- Repaired the bulletin board, making sure all our community notices are easy to see.
- Planted donated flowers around Bridge Street and in the Pocket Park, adding a splash of color and life.
- Pruned the trees throughout the park, giving them a much-needed trim.
- Cleared out the underbrush in the parking lot, making it safer and more pleasant.
- Cleaned up along the river, enhancing the natural beauty of our beloved waterway.
- Spruced up the Pocket Park, making it an even more delightful spot for relaxation and enjoyment.
