A New Year in the Mad River Valley: Stronger Together

As we step into a new year, gratitude rises to the top—for this valley, for the people who live and work here, and for the businesses and organizations that make the Mad River Valley such a resilient and caring place. This past year was not an easy one for me personally, and the support I received from this community meant more than I can put into words. It reinforced what I’ve always believed: the strength of this valley lies in its people.

At its heart, the Mad River Valley Chamber of Commerce exists to bring people together. Businesses, residents, visitors, ideas, and initiative all meet here, and when they do, good things happen. Our work is rooted in a simple but powerful goal: to support local businesses, create jobs, strengthen recreational infrastructure, and protect the character and quality of life that make this valley so special.

We are proud to promote the Mad River Valley as a four-season outdoor recreation destination—one that draws visitors while still feeling like home to those who live and work here year-round. That balance matters, and it takes intention, collaboration, and a whole lot of listening to get it right.

With a full-time executive director, a deeply committed volunteer Board and an engaged membership, the Chamber is able to do a lot—but only because of partnerships. Every collaboration matters. By working alongside local businesses, nonprofits, and community groups, we help the Valley thrive not just today, but for future generations.

What the Chamber Does—Every Day

Much of our work happens quietly, behind the scenes, but it all connects back to strengthening our local economy and community:

  • We help shape and share the story of the Mad River Valley—one that attracts visitors and drives economic activity while staying true to who we are.

  • We welcome visitors at the Mad River Valley Welcome Center and Recreation Hub, helping ensure they have a great experience and a reason to return.

  • We provide up-to-date information on activities, lodging, restaurants, events, and conditions through madrivervalley.com.

  • We work to strengthen relationships among businesses through professional development, shared learning, and connection.

  • We advocate for business interests at the local, state, and federal levels, making sure the voice of the Mad River Valley is heard.

  • We support solutions to shared challenges—housing, stewardship of our natural resources, workforce needs, and overall economic vitality.

  • We offer access to valuable insurance products that support business owners, employees, and their families.

All of this work is grounded in collaboration. No single business, organization, or board can do it alone—and that’s one of the things I love most about this valley. People here show up for one another.

Looking Ahead

As we step into the new year, I feel hopeful. Hopeful because of the creativity and grit of our business community. Hopeful because of the partnerships we continue to build. And hopeful because when challenges arise—as they always do—we face them together.

Thank you for being part of the Mad River Valley Chamber of Commerce. Your engagement, your ideas, and your support make this work possible. I’m excited for what lies ahead and grateful to be doing this work alongside you.

Here’s to a new year of collaboration, connection, and community.
