With the support of the MRV Marketing Taskforce and its Sector Councils, we’re diving into a collaborative and strategic approach to strengthen our Valley’s unique identity and showcase all that makes it extraordinary.

The Mad River Valley is a destination like no other, blending natural beauty, vibrant businesses, and a warm, welcoming community. Our mission is to amplify these incredible assets and inspire connections—whether through a staycation, a day trip, or a memorable vacation.

To unite the diverse sectors of the Valley—lodging, dining, retail, recreation, and more—into a shared vision of sustainable tourism growth. Together, we aim to make the MRV the go-to destination for Vermonters and travelers alike.

Program Structure

The Marketing Task Force

The Marketing Task Force drives the strategic planning for the Valley’s community-wide marketing effort. Acting as a liaison with sector groups, this team ensures all efforts are aligned and impactful. Here are the current representatives:

  • Services: Kolleen & Bobby Kintz (Photos by Kintz)
  • Attractions: Aron Shea (Afterthoughts/Valley Meade)
  • Lodging: Sean Kramer (1824 House)
  • Restaurant: Jeanne Wry (Hyde Away)
  • Chamber: Eric Friedman (MRV Chamber Executive Director)

The Winfield Creative: Consultation & Trainings for MRV

We are excited to partner with Brittany Winfield, Chief Inspiration Officer of The Winfield Creative. With over 10 years of marketing experience, an MBA from  Champlain College, and a passion for helping clients thrive creatively online, Brittany brings her expertise and energy to the Mad River Valley.

Here’s what this collaboration includes:

  • Monthly Collaboration: A one-hour consultation meeting each month with the Marketing Task Force to discuss the current climate of the Chamber and streamline marketing efforts.
  • MRV Business Owner Trainings: Monthly social media marketing training for MRV businesses, with a focus on creating a culture of collaboration and community-building.
  • Tracking System Development: Creating a system to track and evaluate marketing efforts, ensuring ongoing improvement and success.

Brittany’s guidance will be instrumental in helping us refine our strategies and empower businesses across the Valley to elevate their marketing game.

Long-Term Goals

Our strategic plan is ambitious yet achievable, focusing on key areas like social media growth, a cohesive Valley identity, and creating vibrant, sustainable tourism. Here’s a glimpse:

  • Boost Chamber membership by demonstrating clear value and economic benefits.

Core Strategies

  1. Business Education: Monthly workshops for businesses to hone their social media skills and develop collaborative strategies.
  2. Brand Awareness: Highlight the MRV’s unique offerings through consistent and engaging messaging.
  3. Community Engagement: Collaborate with local businesses to create co-branded campaigns and host monthly marketing meetings.
  4. Digital Marketing: Redevelop the Instagram audience, improve SEO, and craft campaigns targeting Vermont residents and beyond.
  5. Event Promotion: Launch initiatives like the “Faces of the Valley” series and seasonal community calendars.

Short-Term Action Plan

In the next 1–3 months, our focus includes:

  • Redeveloping the @themadrivervalley Instagram page.
  • Creating a system for gathering user-generated content.
  • Establishing a sustainable 2025 social media calendar.
