Vermont Forest Cemetery 3rd Anniversary Celebration
Come celebrate the 3rd Anniversary of the opening of Vermont Forest Cemetery, the first and currently only cemetery fully dedicated to natural burial in Vermont. Join us for a day of tours, music, poetry, naturalism workshops, community art and meet deathcare vendors from across the state.
Schedule of Events:
10am – 11am: Naturalism Workshop led by Dirt Camp director and cemeterian Bailey McLaughlin. Learn about animal tracking and the natural communities of the forest.
11am – noon: Poetry readings in our forest labyrinth with Carlene Kucharczyk, winner of the Vermont Book Award, in her poetry collection ‘Strange Hymn’.
Noon – 1:30pm: Musical performance by guitarist and vocalist Zach Nugent.
2:00pm – 4:00pm: Founders Tour with Michelle Hogle Acciavatti. Come meet founder and head cemeterian Michelle Hogle Acciavatti for a two hour tour focusing on the stories of the forest and the vision of the cemetery all while answering your questions about VFC!
In between all our events, come meet deathcare vendors from across the state: weaver Mary Lauren Fraser, Journey with Compassion, Camp Knock Knock, Grief Space, Mourning Cloak by Black Cat Atelier, Green Mountain Burial Shrouds, Daniel Chaffee backboards and so much more! Participate in a community art project and visit artist Carla Kimball’s latest art installation. We hope to see you there!
