Mima Tipper

Mima Tipper is an award-winning author of children’s fiction. Her debut novel Kat’s Greek Summer is the 2025 winner of the Vermont Book Award for Children’s Fiction and the silver medalist for Young Adult(YA) fiction in the 2025 Moonbeam Children’s Book Awards. Her new novel Channeling Marilyn is a YA paranormal, freshly released in time to celebrate Marilyn Monroe’s 100th birthday. Beyond devoting most of her time to writing and being an author, Mima helps at Inklings Children’s Books, and is committed to promoting literacy and supporting the writing community. Mima lives in Waitsfield in the winter and South Hero in the summer.

Born Norma Jeane Mortenson, Marilyn rose from a difficult childhood to become the definitive star of the 20th century. While she starred in numerous classics, her performance in Billy Wilder’s 1959 masterpiece Some Like It Hot remains a crowning achievement. Playing the ukulele-playing Sugar Kane, Marilyn showcased brilliant comedic timing alongside Tony Curtis and Jack Lemmon. Her performance earned her a Golden Globe and cemented the film’s status as one of the greatest comedies in cinema history.
